Airtel SmartSpeedooo Plan is Airtel’s upgraded data plan package that covers all Airtel’s internet bundle from BlackBerry, to Android, to Night plans and a whole lot more.

When I mentioned “upgraded”, this also covers the speed of Airtel Internet services has massively improved, right now they boast of almost 80 to 85 percent of all their 3G sites in Nigeria, which are IP enabled so they can give you the speed of 42mbps, this speed is similar to the speed you get on LTE network. At times I get up to 3MB/s when downloading movies or series through UC Browser with Airtel’s SmartSpeedoo 3G Network.

The SmartSpeedoo plan also offers you up to 160MB free data when your data plan must have expired or you wish not to subscribe to any of Airtel’s capped data plans you can get up to 160MB free data by using PayG data.

How The Free Airtel Data Works

To be able to get up to 160MB free MB you must be an Airtel prepaid user and browse or use internet through PayG(Pay as you Go) Data.

There are 3 categories to help you get 160MB free data which involves 3 steps also:

10MB Free Data

When you browse or use up to 10mb with PayG data at 1kobo per kilobyte, you’re given 10MB for free to browse.

I.e at 1kobo per kilobyte, N10 is equal to 1MB and N100 is equal to 10MB. So with at least N100 to use 10MB and get 10MB for free.

50MB Free Data

After you must have gotten the 10MB free data, the cost per kilobyte you use would be reduced. You’d now be charged 0.5kobo per kilobyte. So when you browse or use up to 50mb at 0.5kobo per kb, you’d be given 50mb data for free in return.

I.e at 0.5kobo per kilobyte, N5 is equal to 1MB and N50 is equal to 10MB. So with at least N250 to use 50MB and get 50MB data for free.

100MB Free Data

After you must have gotten the 50MB free data, the cost per kilobyte you use would be reduced. You’d now be charged 0.2kobo per kilobyte. So when you browse or use up to 100mb at 0.2kobo per kb, you’d be given 100mb data for free in return.

I.e at 0.2kobo per kilobyte, N3 is equal to 1MB and N20 is equal to 10MB. So with at least N200 to use 100MB and get 100MB data for free.

This is all cumulated into 160MB free data and it is important to note that the cycle is for a month and not for a day or week. So, if probably you subscribed after using PayG for a while, the amount that you’ve spent would be recorded for that month and continue when you use PayG data again that month. It is until after a month(30 days) that your PayG data would be reset and starts all over again.

So in essence you have to use N550 PayG data to browse up to 160MB and also get 160MB for free, which is a total of 320MB on SmartSpeedoo.

Meanwhile to access all Airtel’s capped data plans through your phone on the SmartSpeedoo USSD menu, simply dial *141# and you’ll get a variety of Airtel’s Data plans that suits your needs on SmartSpeedoo.

  1. The smart speedo plan has removed the airtel unlimited 10.0 to 20.0 and that’s bad, because some of us are still on the plan
