Genevieve Nnaji, a Nigerian actress, model and singer was born on May 3, 1979 in Mbaise in Imo state. She was the fourth of eight children born into a middle class family. Genevieve father was an engineer and her mother a teacher. The famous Nollywood actress attended Methodist Girls College in Yaba, Lagos before she later proceeded to the University of Lagos (Unilag) where she bagged a bachelor’s degree in creative arts.

 

Her Film Career

Genevieve started her acting career at the age of eight when she starred in a television soap opera titled “Ripples”. She began auditioning for movie roles while still an undergraduate at Unilag and at the age of 19 played a part in the movie titled “Most Wanted”.

 

Since then, she has appeared in more than eighty movies playing both lead and supporting roles. She became the first actress to win the Best Actress Award at City People Awards in 2001 and also awarded the Best Actress by the Censors Board of Nigeria in 2003 and another Actress of the year Award at the inaugural edition African Movie Academy Awards in 2015. She produced her first movie titled “Road to Yesterday” in 2005, the movie later won the Best Movie Overall-West Africa at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

Personal Life

Genevieve is known to be quiet and reserved. Although she is still sjngle, she has a daughter she gave birth to when she was seventeen. She has been romantically linked with several people such as D’banj, Atiku Abubakar and Ramsey Noauh. She was quoted at an interview where she said “I was raised as a Catholic and still a catholic so i don’t believe in divorce, i want a man who will be my best friend and confidant, a man who is self assured and not intimidated by my success or fame and there are very few of such men”.
