Obafemi Awolowo University is a University owned by the Federal Government of  Nigeria. It is located in the city of ile ‘ife, osun state in Nigeria.

It was founded in 1961, but it started lectures in Oct 1962 as the University of Ife by the government of western Nigeria. It was later remained as Obafemi Awolowo University on may 12 1987. This was done in honour of chief Obafemi Awolowo who was the first premier of western Nigeria. The school has about 35,000 students and the Vice Chancellor of the university is in person of Eyitope Ogunbodede.

 

The university offers both the postgraduate and undergraduate programs in different fields of study and specialization ranging from medical sciences, social sciences,natural sciences, engineering, technology, arts and humanities.

Requirements For Admission Into Obafemi Awolowo University

Candidate who are eligible to apply are those who has made Obafemi Awolowo University their first choice in Jamb and have at least a score of two hundred in jamb. Also, all those who registered for Direct Entry can apply.

1. Applicant must have credit passes in the five relevant O’level subject in waec or its equivalent, at not more than two sittings. The passes includes English and mathematics.

Apart from these fees, there are other fees to be paid such as bed allocation, course registration, hostel fee, developmental levy of eighteen thousand naira which is to be paid once and other departmental fees as the case arises.
