About

The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, previoulsy known as the Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta was founded in January 1979.

Academic activities took off with a student population of 220, an academic staff numbering 29 and 5 senior administrative officers at the initial temporary sites at Oke-Egunya and Onikolobo all in Abeokuta. The polytechnic was formally moved to its permanent site at Ojere in year 1985 where it occupies 959 hectares of land.

After the death of Chief MKO Abiola who served as the Polytechnic’s greatest benefactor in 1998, the school was renamed Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta. Consequently, the law of the Polytechnic was repealed. A new law cited as Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Edict of May 1999 was enacted thereafter.

Even though the Polytechnic began academic activities in fewer programmes, it now offers over 40 programmes in 26 departments in School of Environmental Studies, School of Business Administration and Management Studies, School of Engineering,  School of Communication and Information Technology,  and the School of Science and Technology.
