Voice Service On Safaricom

Data Bundles On Safaricom

Safaricom offers affordable data bundle plans. The data plans are categorized into four major plans and they are expressed below;

 

Daily Data Bundles 

These are data plans which do not last beyond 24 hours. It comes in various sizes which include 7MB, 15MB, 35MB, 60MB and 150MB. These plans comes with different prices.

 

Weekly Data Plans  

The weekly data bundles have a 7 days validity. The data bundles under this are 5MB, 10MB, 30MB, 65MB and 130MB.

Monthly Data Bundles

These set of data plans have 30 days validity. That is, it can be enjoyed for 30 days. The available bundles under this plan include 350MB, 1GB, 3GB, 7.5GB and 12GB.

 

90 Days Data Bundles 

These data plans include 6GB, 16GB and 30GB. They can only be enjoyed for 90 days, that’s about 3 months.

 

Data extension occurs when you resubscribe before the expiry of the current data plan. This is whether or not the resubscribe data plan is the current one. It could be any of the daily, weekly, monthly or 90 days data plans.

To check out for the prices of each of the data bundles under each categories, kindly follow log on to the company website www.safaricom.co.ke, then navigate and click the menu, from there click on personal. From personal, under Getting connected, click on data bundles and on the next page, you can select both data plan and specific bundle to get its full details.

 

Set Up 

Before you can enjoy the connection service, you will be required to set your device whether mobile or laptop/desktop device. For laptop, you need a modem. There are four you can choose from which include Huawei E1820 Modem, Huawei E173 Modem, Huawei E220 Modem and Huawei E160 Modem. Each of them can be upgraded.

 

For mobile device, you may try the manual settings. Turn to your phone menu, click on settings and from there to network or internet settings. Then input the following the details;

Connection Name: Safaricom Internet

 APN: safaricom

Username: saf

Password: data

For WAP device, please input the following details;

Proxy address: 172.022.002.038

Proxy Port: 8080 for HTTP or 9201 for WAP

Authentication type – Normal or PAP/CHAP
