The Nigerian passport holders require a tourist visa to visit the United States. And fortunately, it is a very straightforward process! You should note that the first step in the US Visa Application process is submitting your application online through the electronic application centre of the US department of state consular. Then you need to complete the US Visa Application and also attend your interview at the US Embassy in Abuja or the United States Consulate General in Lagos.

Please note that we recommend you check if you are eligibility before beginning the application process and also you should submit your application at least three months in advance of flight departure.

How To Book An Appointment

Note that generally, a citizen of a foreign country that intends to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a non-immigrant visa for short stay or an immigrant visa for a permanent residence. The citizens of qualified countries may be also able to visit the U.S. without which must be a visa under the visa waiver program by the US. So in case you do not qualify for the Visa Waiver Program or are traveling to work, study, or participate in any exchange program, then you must apply for the non-immigrant US visa.

The applicants for the U.S. visas are meant to come in person for the visa interview at the Embassy in Abuja or the Consulate General in Lagos. But you must schedule an appointment for that interview first, either you do that online using the embassy website or through their call centre.

Here Are The Current Requirements

For you to book a non-immigrant visa appointment, you need to have the following information and documents available:

  • An international passport that is valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond your planned period of stay in the United States. And if you have more than one person in your passport, then, each person desiring a visa must submit an application.
  • Provide your visa application fee payment receipt from GTBank
  • You need to provide your DS-160 confirmation page
  • Must have a valid e-mail address and telephone number
  • For this one if is applicable, required documents based on visa type such as a copy of your petition approval for petition-based related visas, a DS-2019 for exchange visitor visas, I-20 for student visas, etc.
