If you are among the people who are considering to join the United State Military and you are thinking it would be one of the most difficult things to achieve, then know that it’s not true because it’s very easy to join the U.S army once you have all the requirements. Though you will need to pass through a lot of selection process that involves different stages that must be completed to be enlisted.

Today, we will be sharing with you how you can join the United States army as a Nigerian with all the things that are required for you to join.

 

 

Here Are The Processes That Should Be Taken  

Process 1: The Basic Requirement

As it is in every job opening, the very first thing before you apply is to meet the basic requirements, so it is, if you desire to join the U.S army. Below are the basic requirements to meet before you would be enlisted.

  1. You must be legally residing in the U.S or be a U.S citizen.
  2. You must be between 17 to 34 years of age, if you are 17 years, then you will need to provide a letter of consent from your parents.
  3. You must meet the weight and height standards of the U.S army.
  4. You must have good physical and medical condition.
  5. You must not have been convicted for any criminal activities, domestic violence or felonies.
  6. You must have at least a high school diploma (SSCE) or GED.
  7. Finally, you should be able to take and pass the ASVAB exam with a minimum required score of 31.

Process 2: Locate A Military Recruiter

Once you meet and have the basic requirement as mentioned above, then the next thing would be for you to contact any local armed forces recruiter in the U.S. after you must have contacted a local recruiter, you will then have the opportunity to talk about the different job designation and the benefit you would get. For the recruiter to start the paperwork immediately during and after your first visit, ensure you have all the required document at hand.

 

Process 3: Take the ASVAB Exam

The next thing after you have met the local recruiter will be the test. You will be taken to a testing site as part of the basic requirement to take the Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) exam.

The ASVAB exam is the basic qualification method they will use to enlist you into the U.S Military, so your success level will enable them determine the type of occupation you would be eligible for in the military. You might be recruited as a military police, Engineer, Medical Personnel, Motor Transport Operator, Mechanic, Computer Technologist, Food Service Operator etc. remember that as mentioned before, the minimum pass score for ASVAB exam is 31.

 

Process 4: Visit to MEPS

Once you have passed the ASVAB exam, you will then go to MEPS for another physical exam which includes urinary, vision, hearing, blood, genital exams etc. once you are cleared, you will be given an army counsellor for counselling.

 

Process 5: Signing of Contract and Taking of Oath

After your meeting with the army counsellor, and have come into agreement, you will then raise your right hand so you can be sworn into the U.S military.
